The European EN388 Mechanical Risk standard has recently undergone some changes to make testing procedures more precise. For some time, the Coup Test for measuring cut resistance has been criticised for its limitations that relate to blade blunting so a second, internationally recognised cut test (ISO13997) has been introduced to address these shortcomings when the Coup Test does not apply. A test has also been introduced to EN388 to address impact resistance of a glove.
